Mars Rising

Mars Rising - Mark David Major What are some of the book's themes? Corruption, death, survival. There were some very dark themes and emotions, hence the title, Mars Rising.

Did the book end the way you expected? It was a little twisted and unexpected but I loved the ending and really want to read other books by this author.

Top 3 things I liked about the whole book. This is one of the very few self-published books that the author has put so much effort into. The sketches. The writing. Lastly, the whole new world he created.

The Newbie Author's Survival Guide

The Newbie Author's Survival Guide - A.K. Taylor What are some of the book's themes? This book functions as an A to Z guide for authors who want to attempt self-publishing. The author provides links to other sites and examples of what needs to be done.

Did the book end the way you expected? I would have liked to hear testimonials from people who have used these services.

Top 3 things I liked about the whole book. It was to the point. It can also function as a guide for book bloggers. My favourite chapter was networking.

Sojourners in Shadow

Sojourners in Shadow - Steven Beeho Which did you find more appealing, the introduction or the conclusion? Neither. I preferred the middle sections when you actually receive an explanation about the ongoing battle and mutants.

Why would you recommend or not recommend this book? I would but only to people who enjoy multiple genres and stories cramped into one story.

Did the book description relate to the story? Mostly, yes. Although, I do think it would be more than helpful if the author included a list of characters and places. Most of us at the book club did this ourselves and without this guide, it would have been confusing.

The Sin of Forgiveness

The Sin of Forgiveness - Edward F. Mrkvicka Jr. Summarize book? The book was about how the church has changed to accommodate the ways of the world. How forgiveness shouldn't be given if the person doesn't repent. It's about all the people that will end up in hell, whether they are saved or not. It's a lot to think about. He gives a lot of new insights to think about.

Feel about main character? The author is strong minded. He says we have lost our way and I agree with him.

Style of writer? His style was pretty good. He never waived from his topic.

Do Not Go Quietly: A Guide to Living Consciously and Aging Wisely for People Who Weren't Born Yesterday

Did you like the way the book ended? I liked the call for action this book made and I will definitely be implementing a few steps.

Spare Change

Spare Change - Bette Lee Crosby Did the plot pull you in or did you feel you had to force yourself to read the book? This definitely pulled me in. I admit that I did not think I would enjoy this book, but it was surprisingly wonderful.

If you could continue the story, what events would you include? I would not continue the story. It ended where it should.

What would the main character be likely to do if s/he visited? Olivia would talk about how important it is to have that special someone in our life.

Shadow Cay

Shadow Cay - Leona Bodie
Is the story plot or character driven? Honestly, I was dreading this question. This book is plot driven and runs on so may sub-plots it can get very confusing. If some of the subplots were removed and then used for a separate book, this might have been better than squeezing everything into story and confusing readers along the way.

What did you enjoy about this book? Loved the locations and I loved both the main characters, Madeleine and Peter who seemed to complement each other despite their circumstances.

What did you think of the style of the writer? I liked her writing style. She was witty and descriptive which made the locations in the story very interesting. But still, less sub-plots, please.

Evergreen (A Serial Killer Thriller)

Evergreen (A Serial Killer Thriller) - David Jester How does setting figure in, come to life? The setting is mysteries. They were in their own element.

Aiden - 50 years old. Father and murderer.

Tainted Love: The Faith McKenzie Story

Tainted Love: The Faith McKenzie Story - Erin Cawood
Book end like expected? Didn't think it would end, as it did and quite a few of us were left reeling. The ending of this book alone raised so many discussion questions at the book club.

Cover appearance. I think it was fitting. The white roses are pure and innocent, just like Faith was.

Content, setting, theme? The content was good. The author combined the themes and settings against the violent emotions of Cal, these were my favourite bits.

Is the plot well-developed? The plot is well developed. Every bit of this story is believable.

What did you think of the story structure? The story kept me spell bound with bits and pieces, here and there. I think because Stan's memory was fragmented, the author was sharing the same emotion with his readers.

The Morph (Gate-Shifters, #1)

The Morph - J.C. Andrijeski Where did the story take place? The story takes place on a strange planet filled with shapeshifters. They are able to taken on a human but their cultures, habits and lives are completely different.

What do you think will be your lasting impression of this book? I think it will be the fact that Dakota and Nikhil were willing to overcome their differences to start a relationship.

What did you think of the cover? The green face doesn't make sense until you read the book and the blue eyes too. Not a big fan of the cover but it makes sense.

Enigma Black (Enigma Black, #1) - Sara Furlong Burr What were the main themes of the book? Murder, vengeance and mayhem. The only thing that came to mind when I started reading this book was the Five for Fighting song "Superman". Describe 2 different settings or locations. In the beginning of the chapter, The Lakes when Celaine describes Christmas in contrast to her parents' deaths and

Were you able to connect with the main character and why? Some book club members since it was easy to connect with Celaine before she was 'converted'. I agree with this but I also think that her vengeance is a real feeling and although it panned out in murder and mayhem, it presented raw human emotion that I could definitely connect with.

Some Are Sicker Than Others

Some Are Sicker Than Others - Andrew Seaward Describe 2 different settings or locations.

Monty's apartment - Stale cigarettes and liquor. Carpet soak with urine and vomit. Half eaten food, black fuzzy mold every where. The ice covered lake, where Vickie and Monty's car went under. Dark and snowy.

Did the book end the way you expected?

It was somewhat of a surprise.

Which characters do you particularly admire or dislike?
